Osteopathy & Cranial Osteopathy

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a medicine-free, non-invasive manual therapy that aims to improve health across all parts of the body by manipulating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework.

Using holistic and ‘hands on’ techniques we focus on your joints, muscles and spine, and our treatment aims to positively affect your body’s nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems. Techniques include stretching, gentle pressure, and resistance, and our aim is to provide overall good health and well-being.

Cranial Osteopathy

Cranial Osteopathy is a subtle form of treatment that uses very gentle pressure to encourage the release of stresses throughout the body. It is called ‘cranial’ because treatment often involves the head, although other parts of the body such as the tailbone and spine can also be involved. In fact it works on the whole person, i.e, changes may occur in the body, mind and spirit throughout and after the treatment.

Although gentle, cranial treatment is extremely effective and may be used for a wide variety of conditions for people of all ages, from babies to the very elderly. The treatment is carried out by the therapist placing their hands very lightly on the body to enable them to listen to the cranial rhythms, and in doing so are drawn to the area of the body which may need attention and realignment.

It has been described as having similarities to counselling as the therapist and patient are in tune with each other at the deepest level of healing within the body. And because it is gentle and non invasive it is also suitable for newly born babies, as well as to aid problems associated with traumatic or difficult births.

It is currently practiced in the USA and the UK in maternity hospitals before the baby and mother are discharged. Pregnant ladies also receive CST which ultimately aids the birthing process.

CST enables the body to balance, restore and heal itself. We use it at our clinic to treat or help with the following :

  • Reduce stress
  • Build up  or boost energy levels.
  • Clarity of mind.
  • Bereavement
  • Anxiety and depression.
  • IBS
  • Collitis
  • Bloating
  • Constipation
  • Old injury release
  • Feeling of well being

Patients may require two to four treatments dependent on their particular condition. Most report an improvement in their physical or emotional symptoms, a feeling of increased self awareness in general, and most importantly an improved quality of life.
